
In a momentous occasion, Nesgas, a prominent gas producing company, officially commenced the construction of a groundbreaking 50,000 metric tonnes Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) facility in Rivers State. The honorable Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Ekperikpe Ekpo, presided over the groundbreaking ceremony, expressing his resolute support for the project.
Boosting the Local Economy and Creating Jobs
Minister Ekperikpe Ekpo highlighted the profound impact of the LPG facility on the local economy. During the ceremony on Tuesday, he emphasized that the project would not only create jobs but also significantly contribute to the economic growth of Rivers State.
“The private sector’s dedication to invest in infrastructure that facilitates storage, delivery, and consumption of green energy has been identified as a perfect bid for the Federal government to carry out its initiative for cleaner sustainable energy sources,” stated Minister Ekpo.

- Location: The LPG depot project is set to be constructed at the Oil and Gas Free Trade Zone, NPA Complex, Onne Rivers State, championed by NESGAS in collaboration with various companies.

The LPG depot project is a testament to collaborative efforts, with various companies including Nesgas Producing Limited, GAS360, Modern West Advisory, and Hebron Gas Infrastructure Company joining forces. Emmanuel Uwandu, Managing Director/CEO of GAS360, expressed optimism about the project’s potential to provide clean cooking gas to approximately three million small businesses.
“The Nesgas team should be incorporated into the economic planning of Nigeria; we will ensure even those in the creeks get clean cooking gas,” affirmed Emmanuel Uwandu.

Minister Ekperikpe Ekpo reiterated the government’s dedication to fostering an atmosphere conducive to the expansion of the gas industry. “As the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources – Gas, I am here to support the growth of the gas industry in Nigeria,” he emphasized.
